Jordan Thierry

Own the Ask founder Jordan Thierry is a veteran nonprofit strategist, award-winning storyteller, and capacity builder with two decades of experience helping nonprofit leaders raise more money, sharpen their message, and deepen their impact. As the Executive Director of Dream Chase Media, he has partnered with foundations, social justice organizations, and community-based nonprofits across the country — guiding them through the full arc of organizational growth, from crafting compelling fundraising narratives to designing the systems that sustain them.
If you're leading a nonprofit — especially in its early years — you already know the juggle. Programs to launch. Grants to write. A board to build. Volunteers to manage. Partners to court. By the time you get to the bottom of your to-do list, individual donor cultivation is nowhere to be found.

That's not a character flaw. It's a capacity problem. And it's one that most leaders quietly share. But the funding landscape has shifted in ways that make the stakes higher than ever. Pandemic-era grants have dried up. Economic uncertainty has tightened giving. Philanthropic institutions are recalibrating in response to a volatile political environment. Government funding has decreased — and some organizations are stepping back from it entirely, unwilling to meet new requirements around sharing community members' data.

The message is clear: diversifying your revenue isn't optional anymore. It's survival.

So where does that leave you? If you're a small or mid-sized organization, the existing training options weren't built for you. Fundraising programs at the major gift level assume you have a full development team — one person for prospecting, another for cultivation, someone else managing campaigns and stewardship. And on the other end, trainings designed for smaller organizations tend to focus on grants or small-dollar grassroots fundraising. There's almost nothing in between.

There's also a piece of advice that gets repeated endlessly in this sector: hire a development director. Or bring in a consultant. And sure — eventually, that's probably the right move. But what if you're not there yet? What if you need to raise the money before you can afford the help?

The only answer is to get out there and start making asks.
That's why I created Own the Ask.

This is the training I've been looking for to offer my clients — built specifically for leaders who are doing the work themselves, with limited staff, real relationships, and a vision worth funding. We'll help you build the skills, the strategy, and the confidence to ask for money in a way that actually feels like you.

Enroll today and build a pipeline of donors to sustain you.
